Who Do You Think You Are?

"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of GodAnd that is what we are!.."

- 1 John 1:1

Who do you believe yourself to be? What do you believe about yourself?

How you answer those questions will impact every aspect of your life.

Most people have negative and often times destructive identities. For instance, when you believe you're worthless, you're likely to act that out by not taking care of yourself, abusing substances, or lashing out at others.

When this happens, it affirms the false identity which leads to the vicious cycle of shame, guilt, and continued destructive behavior.

But not you and not me. If you find yourself believing for a second that you're anything less than who God says you are, you need to forget it. Because Jesus gave you a new identity (2 Corinthians 5:17). God has already spoken. The only one stopping you from living your life from that identity is you.

So, it doesn't matter what the world's been telling you or who you've believed yourself to be..

You can choose today to take God at His word and believe what He's said about you.

My devotional (New Morning Mercies) earlier this week read, "If God is your Father, the Son is your Savior, and the Spirit is your indwelling Helper, you have hope no matter what you're facing."

Believe that truth today. There's nothing that can stop what God has for you. No one can close the doors God will open for you. And if God is for you, WHO or WHAT can be against you?!

His plan for your life WILL prevail. Do you believe that?

I wonder how crazy full your life will look when you continue living from your true identity - day to day, moment to moment.

Trust me friend, the enemy wants you to be ineffective. And what's the best way to do that? To make you believe you're anything less than who God says you are.

Your truest self will always be found in God. He is with you. His power is in you. Believe it.

Live from your true identity today, my friend.

Stay Spiritually Fit,

Brian
